Can the patient be saved?

While the good people of this Nation are being alternately threatened, cajoled and lured into focusing on all of our current “emergencies”, such as climate change, energy depletion, health care legislation or even the swine flu, there is an even more devastating disease growing rapidly in intensity. It is a disease not unlike a flesh eating bacteria, incessantly gnawing away at our most vital organ – The Constitution and Bill of Rights.  That disease is greed, complicated by ignorance and indifference to the problem.

Like any physical infection it has invaded our collective being. No doubt due to inattention to our political hygiene and disregard for healthy spiritual living habits, born out of laziness and complacency, i.e. a gross lack of participation in politics and the expectation that others should  make the tough decisions for us…. not availing ourselves of information about candidates…. not really caring enough to even cast a vote….leaving the door wide open for those who do not believe in the principles on which this country was founded and has prospered for over two centuries, to invade and to corrupt our system, which is now fighting for its very survival. As in the case of infection, it only takes a minute breach in our armor to allow the most dangerous of invasions to take hold. For a time the intruder goes unnoticed and only when it begins to cause pain is it apparent that something must be done. However, sometimes that realization comes too late. The destruction is far too advanced to cure, such as it may well be already for our way of life. We have become so contaminated with the sickness of expecting to be cared for by our government, of being relieved of our responsibilities of citizenship that we give little or no thought to the fact that we are exchanging far more than we realize.

If the patient (our Nation) is to survive we must take every measure to avail ourselves of every means to destroy the infection. We must apply the “antiseptic” knowledge of the truth and learn all that we can about the malady and its vulnerabilities; we must use an informed vote as a surgical tool to dislodge the damaged fiber of this country and protect it with the healing balm of restoring the documents that made this country great. We must act decisively to rid the system of the contaminant of liberalism and social justice ideology, {or} we may soon be grieving the demise of the patient.

Such a loss will be far greater, more painful and irreparable than any the world has or will ever know.  The heart of America is strong and it is further strengthened by people who have experienced and overcome great obstacles in the past. It is possible to cure the illness and restore her to health once more, but it will require a renewed and determined effort on the part of every freedom loving American. Do we really have a choice? May God, once again bless America.
