It won’t be just tornadoes crossing the Kansas countryside this spring; episodes of the hit series American Pickers will film across the Sunflower State during May with possible stops in the Kansas City and Topeka areas. The show’s hosts, Mike Wolfe, Frank Fritz, plus their team will be regular features tooling across the state in search of antique treasure.
The program is a documentary series that explores the fascinating world of antique ‘picking.’ Premiering in 2010, the show follows Mike and Frank, two of the most skilled pickers in the business, as they hunt, or “pick”, for America’s most valuable antiques. They are always excited to find sizable, unique collections or accumulations and learn the interesting stories behind them.
The program is produced by A&E Television Networks in collaboration with Cineflix Media. The two men are on a mission to recycle and rescue forgotten relics, Cineflix said in a news release. They were last in Kansas in July of 2013 when they visited the Wichita region.
“Along the way, the Pickers want to meet characters with remarkable and exceptional items,” the release said. “The pair hopes to give historically significant objects a new lease on life, while learning a thing or two about America’s past along the way.”
