City Union Mission and churches to honor veterans

City Union Mission is partnering with local churches to hold a special dinner and chapel service to remember and celebrate all U.S. veterans Sunday, Nov. 11.

Cornerstone Presbyterian Church will host the chapel service at the Mission, and every veteran who attends will be recognized during the service and honored with a gift. Following the service, Connection Point Church will provide a dinner for veterans with chicken alfredo and sides.

Veterans who served in all branches of the military as well well as service men and women who are residents and guests in the Mission’s shelters, veterans from the Kansas City community and anyone who wishes to honor them are welcome.

The event will take place 6:30 p.m. at City Union Mission Men’s Center Chapel/Dining Room, 1108 E. 10th Street, Kansas City

In addition to food and shelter, City Union Mission offers programs and services to equip struggling veterans with marketable job skills and help them in locating resources required to rebuild stable lives and maintain their independence.

The Mission also provides on-site medical care, as well as guidance for receiving advanced medical treatment and mental-health and substance-abuse counseling through the assistance of partner organizations. Through daily chapel services, Bible study and discipleship groups, Mission guests learn about Christ’s love and His plan for their lives.
