Trump’s approval rating at end of second year is 49%; same as Obama’s

Despite what many in the media are reporting, President Donald Trump is not an unpopular President.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Thursday, February 7, shows that 49% of likely U.S. voters approve of President Trump’s job performance. Fifty percent disapprove.

The latest figures include 47% who Strongly Approve of the job Trump is doing and 42% who Strongly Disapprove.

Trump’s approval rating of 49% is exactly the same as President Obama’s approval rating at the same point in his presidency.

Approval ratings for both presidents varied between the low 40s to slightly over 50% over the second year of their term. These numbers are not uncommon, as presidential approval ratings on average are below 50% most of the time.

Rasmussen Reports is the only nationally recognized public opinion firm that still tracks presidential job approval ratings on a daily basis.

Daily tracking results are collected via telephone and online surveys of 500 likely voters per night. The margin of sampling error is less than +/- 1 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence.
