Chiefs’ kicker Harrison Butker has launched a political action committee, UPRIGHT PAC, to encourage Christians to vote for candidates and issues that support their beliefs.
“Athletes are citizens like the rest of us, people who have political views and want to voice those, want to support those, want to push for policies and candidates,” he said, according to KCTV-5. “In totality, I think it’s a good thing that we have people who are willing to be involved, active and engaged. There are going to be athletes you agree with and disagree with, but ultimately, they are citizens as well.”
Butker has endorsed Republican Sen. Josh Hawley for re-election to the U.S. Senate and appeared with him at several recent campaign events. “He’s a family man,” Butker told Laura Ingraham of Fox News. “He’s a godly man, and there’s no other person I’d want to support, to be the first candidate that I’m endorsing.”
Butker described the political rally he attended.
“It was amazing,” he said. “It was like a little game, you know? I was driving into the home stadium. Some away fans there, chanting outside, going in there listening to ‘Born in the USA,’ and just having a great time. Talking about traditional values that we believe will make this country great again.”.

Butker said he and Hawley have developed a relationship over the last several years, and the senator welcomed Butker’s endorsement as an honor.
“This is a guy who is not afraid to speak the truth, who’s not afraid to say that we have got to stand on the principles that this country was founded on,” Hawley said. “When the Left came after him in such a crazy, nutty way this last spring, he didn’t give an inch, and we need more of that in the United States of America.”
Derek Schmidt, candidate for Kansas’ 2nd Congressional District, also appeared at one of the rallies to support Hawley. Schmidt and Hawley are both former state attorneys general.
Butker came under attack from the Left in May after he told young women not to listen to the “most diabolical lies told to you.”
“Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world, but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world,” he said during his commencement address at Benedictine College.
