Just 1 Percent of Organizations Rated by Charity Navigator Have Received as Many Consecutive Four-Star Evaluations.

Kansas City based Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA, www.fca.org) has earned its 11th consecutive four-star designation from Charity Navigator (CN), a leading independent charity evaluator that helps donors make sound giving decisions by evaluating charities’ financial health, accountability and transparency.

Just 1 percent of the organizations Navigator rates have received at least 11 consecutive four-star evaluations. This exceptional designation from differentiates Fellowship of Christian Athletes from its peers and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of their trust, reports CN.

“We are honored that Charity Navigator has recognized Fellowship of Christian Athletes for the 11th consecutive year with its top rating,” said FCA President and CEO Shane Williamson. “We count it a privilege to work with friends and supporters around the world, and take very seriously the responsibility before us to use our donors’ gifts wisely and with the best interest of coaches and athletes at heart. FCA is blessed to partner with so many who believe in our vision and mission and have come alongside this worldwide ministry to impact others for Christ.”

Forbes, Business Week and Kiplinger’s Financial Magazine, among others, have profiled and celebrated CN’s unique method of applying data-driven analysis to the charitable sector. The organization evaluates 10 times more charities than its nearest competitor and attracts more visitors to its website than all other charity rating groups combined. It is estimated that Charity Navigator, America’s largest and most-utilized independent evaluator of charities, influenced approximately $10 billion in charitable gifts last year.

“Astute donors are yearning for greater accountability, transparency and for concrete results from us,” wrote Michael Thatcher, president and CEO of Charity Navigator, in a letter to Williamson. “With more than 1.5 million American charities, Charity Navigator aims to accentuate the work of efficient and transparent organizations. The intent of our work is to provide donors with essential information to give them greater confidence in both the charitable decisions that they make and the nonprofit sector.”

Thatcher also noted that FCA’s 11th consecutive four-star rating—the highest possible rating—indicates that the 63-year-old international sports ministry “adheres to sector best practices and executes its mission in a financially efficient way.”
