Israel-Hamas Prisoner Exchange: Understanding the Unequal Swap

The dangerous myth promoted by the mainstream media and accepted by most of the world is that Israel and Hamas are carrying out some sort of “prisoner swap,” albeit lopsided in numbers.

Nothing could be further from the truth, and it’s critical that the world understands this.

While Israel is releasing convicted murderers with blood on their hands, Israeli hostages include civilians ripped from their homes, attending a music festival and soldiers acting in self-defense. Palestinians being released include murderers convicted in bombings, stabbings, shootings, hijackings, sexual assault and the list goes on.

Here are some of the Palestinian ‘detainees’ being released in the deal:

  • Mohammed Abu Warda was responsible for Jerusalem bus bombings which killed 44 people, and a deadly attack at an Ashkelon hitchhiking post. He was sentenced to 48 life terms.
  • Khalil Jabarin stabbed Ari Fuld, a father of four, multiple times in the back and neck as he was standing outside a supermarket. After fighting back, Fuld died from his wounds.
  • Wael Qissam, Wissam Abbasi, and Muhammad Odeh, notorious members of a Hamas terror cell, carried out five bombings across Israel, killing 35 people and wounding hundreds.

For each innocent Israeli hostage, 30 or 50 Palestinian murderers are being released. It suffices to say that this “hostages for murderers” deal is no ordinary “prisoner swap.” As more hostages are released and victims reveal their personal stories, we continue to learn new details about the sheer brutality and cruelty unleashed against innocent Israelis.

False moral equivalence between casualties caused by Israel acting in self-defense and Hamas’ deliberate brutal attacks on Jews has tragically been accepted by most of the world. It is critical that Israel and the Jewish people win the war on the battlefield of public opinion.

With Blessings from Israel,
