Kansas organization ranked among best Christian workplaces in 2020

Union Rescue Mission in Wichita, Kansas, is among the best Christian workplaces for 2020 as selected by the Best Christian Workplaces Institute.

Seventy-six organizations met the certification standard determined by exemplary ratings from their employees who completed the institute’s employee engagement survey between January and July. All organizations evaluated their workplaces based on a proprietary FLOURISH Model — Fantastic Teams, Life-giving Work, Outstanding Talent, Uplifting Growth, Rewarding Compensation, Inspirational Leadership, Sustainable Strategy, and Healthy Communication.

Certification is based on anonymous employee opinions of a flourishing workplace culture vs. a subjective honor randomly bestowed upon an organization.

Eighty-two percent of all new certified honorees were surveyed over multiple years. “This is one confirmation that organizations which welcome and act upon employee feedback increase the likelihood of building a better, stronger workplace culture,” CEO Al Lopus said. After surveying annually for three consecutive years, C12 Group, the largest network of Christian CEOs and executives working together to increase company performance and integrate faith and business, saw its level of employee engagement soar from 36 percent in 2016 to 78 percent in 2019.

“Paying attention to your culture by surveying regularly is probably the single most important thing a Christian leader can do,” said Jeff Lockyer, lead pastor for Southridge Community Church in St. Catharine’s, Ontario. Southridge has surveyed annually with the institute since 2013 and has solidified its certified status ever since.

“Workplace culture is more important now than ever,” said Craig Springer, executive director of ALPHA USA. “I’m so thankful we have focused on building our workplace culture leading into the coronavirus crisis, because now we have a bonded resilience as a team.

Since 2002, the Employee Engagement Survey has been completed by more than 1,100 churches, faith-based non-profits and Christian-owned businesses in the United States, Canada, Australia, Africa, Asia, Europe and Central America.
