In an encouraging sign of the easing of the pandemic and the coming of spring, Silver Dollar City in Branson is open for business. Something new this year is a “Tasting Passport” for food during its Street Fest, now through May 2.
“Food is simply one of our things,” food director Sam Hedrick said, noting that Silver Dollar City has been awarded for its presentation and quality of food items. “We have worked hard for decades to always be on the cutting edge of flavors, trends, traditional favorites and home-style selections. The tasting passport grants guests a variety of sampling, all for a reasonable price.”
Guests can choose between a $30 pass for five tasting items or $40 for five tasting items plus a refillable souvenir mug. The menu includes 20 selected eateries, each with a variety of options. For example:
- Tater Patch has specialty chicken skewers; fried, loaded tater tumblers stuffed with chorizo and avocado; and garlic parmesan and red pepper sauce.
- Lady Liberty has chicken tender bowls such as poutine, chipotle with black beans and corn and parmesan.
- Dockside Grill offers mac and cheese, BLTs, chili, sweet corn and Tex Mex.
- The new Rivertown Smokehouse serves fried spare ribs and carnitas ravioli nachos.
Street and outdoor stage entertainment durst Street Fest includes living floral trees, the international Disa Stilt Walker, teeterboard performers, trick roller skaters, bike stunt riders, a precision card thrower, a professor who teaches the “Theremin” electromagnetic music-making device, musicians and steel drums, a one-man walking band, a unicyclist, a juggler and more.
Silver Dollar City leadership said the challenges of the last year have pushed them to be even more creative. Street Fest displays that out-of-the-box thinking that has made the park famous, according to organizers.
