“Swing Dancing” lessons and Valentine social offered at Jayhawk Theatre

Topeka Swing Dance will continue beginner classes on Tuesdays, February 5, 12, 19, and 26, 2019 at the Jayhawk Theatre at 720 Jackson Street.  Class is from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.  From 8:00 to 8:30, students will have time to practice, ask questions, and social dance.  Tickets are $5.00 each for the lesson.  Water and snacks will be available for purchase.

No partner or prior dance experience is needed to participate in this event. It is advised to wear shoes that will allow you to slide rather than stick on the floor, and wear clothes that allow you to move comfortably. The theatre is cool, and dancers are also advised to dress in layers so they can remove sweaters, etc., as they warm up.

The lessons are becoming very popular. All ages are invited.

The Jayhawk Theatre, in cooperation with Topeka Swing Dance, is also hosting the “Be My Swing Dancing Valentine Social” on February 9 in the Main Theatre.  Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., featuring DJ music until 7:45.  A beginner dance lesson will be held from 7:00 – 7:30.  Radio Days Orchestra will play live swing music from 7:45 – 10:00 p.m.  No partner or prior dance experience is needed to participate. Tickets are $16.00 in advance, $18.00 at the door, and can be purchased at www.jayhawktheatre.com.

There will be drinks at the cash bar from Celtic Fox, and delicious treats, hot chocolate and coffee from Hazel Hill Chocolate in the Kandynook.  Additionally, Midland Care Findables Resale Store will have a table with vintage jewelry, accessories, and clothing for sale at the event.
