3 things to do this weekend to get your Christmas on!

Looking for some Christmas activities to do this weekend without the threat of a winter storm? It’s a great opportunity to get out as snow, ice and rain rages to our south.

Here’s our top picks:

Christmas at Missouri Town 1855

Celebrate Christmas as if its 1855 at Missouri Town in eastern Jackson County. Festivities begin at 9 a.m. and go until 4. The chill of winter cannot stop staff and volunteers from sharing the joys of the holiday season with the many visitors who have made this annual holiday event a must.

Warm hearth fires, simple but delicious food, period music, an appearance by Belsnickle, and piping hot cider are but a few of the treats awaiting our guests.

Pets are not permitted inside the village. Catch the fun at 8010 E. Park Road in Lee’s Summit.

See the area’s largest church choir

Today at 1 and again at 5 p.m. and Sunday at a 5 p.m., enjoy family Christmas activities at Lenexa Baptist Church. The event is an escape from the myriad of activities, work, shopping, busyness and focuses on WORSHIP.  This is their yearly Christmas program featuring the LBC Worship Choir and Orchestra, and it is followed by a delicious dessert buffet. The event is free but seating is limited, so get there early. The doors will open 1 hour before each performance. Lenexa staff say it is their prayer that the Messiah – the King of kings and Lord of lords – makes this your most memorable Christmas ever as you worship Him in “spirit and in truth.” Childcare provided provided for ages 3 and under. LBC is located at 15320 W 87th Street Pkwy, Lenexa.
