Carlos and Khalil Davis, twin brothers from the Kansas City area who both play in the NFL, provided a Thanksgiving meal to local adoptive and foster families on Saturday in partnership with Foster Adopt Connect.

The brothers met with families at the Blue Springs Zarda BBQ, As adoptees themselves, the twins deeply understand the impact of a loving and stable family. Through this special lunch, the organization said they hope to show their gratitude and inspire others to support the efforts of foster and adoptive families. The twins believe the work of Foster Adopt Connect changes the lives of countless children who share their experiences.

“Being adopted gave us the foundation to dream big and succeed,” Carolos said, according to KCTV-5. “This Thanksgiving, we want to celebrate the families who open their hearts and homes to children, just like ours did for us.”

“We know firsthand the challenges and triumphs that can come with being in the foster care system,” Khalil said. “This event is a way to give back and remind families and children in this community that they are seen, appreciated and loved.”

Foster and adoptive families interacted with Carlos Davis; his wife, Jade,; his parents, Tracy and Carl Davis; and his sister, Monique Rice Brown. Khalil made a special appearance by live video as he prepared for a game in Green Bay against the Packers.

“Carlos and Khalil’s story is a beacon of hope for the children and families we serve,” said Josh Hollingsworth, president of advancement for Foster Adopt Connect Kansas City. “Their generosity and willingness to share their journey make this Thanksgiving time even more meaningful.”

Attending families received a turkey and all the trimmings to cook their Thanksgiving meal, as well as groceries to get them through the school break.

Carlos was signed as defensive tackle for the Cincinnati Bengals in August, while Khalil plays defensive tackle for the San Francisco 49ers. The pair were born in Blue Springs and went to Blue Springs High School before they played college ball at the University of Nebraska.
