Area Christian Schools Attend Open Houses This Week

Private Christian schools from across the Kansas City area will join together for three different K-12 Open House evenings in each area of the metro.

The events will be on these dates:

Jackson County/Lee’s Summit area: Monday, March 6, 6 pm to 8 pm, at the Gamber Community Center, 4 SE Independence Ave, Lee’s Summit.

Kansas City Northland area: Tuesday, March 7 from 6pm to 8pm, at the Gladstone Community Center, 6901 N. Holmes Street, Gladstone.

Johnson County, Kan.: Thursday, March 9 from 6pm to 8 pm, at the Tomahawk Ridge Community Center, 11902 Lowell Ave, Overland Park.

The free events are part of Christian Education Week in Kansas City, sponsored by the Metro Voice Christian Newspaper (www.metrovoicenews.com).

Parents will have an opportunity to visit with teachers and administrators from a wide variety of schools and learn about their academic, athletic, and fine arts programs. Schools attending will include many elementary options as well as private high schools with both protestant and Catholic schools attending. Also present will be homeschooling organizations who will share resources for families considering educating their child at home.

Christian Education Week and these open house evenings were organized to meet the demand of interest in private schooling and to make it easy for parents to visit with many schools on the same evening. Joining local schools in your area will be schools from other areas of Kansas City you may not be familiar with.

“It’s a wonderful opportunity for parents to talk face-to-face with teachers and principals in a setting convenient for both,” said Anita Widaman, event coordinator and publisher of the Metro Voice newspaper.

“Our first open house last year in the Northland was a great success and we’re excited to create and hold one for families with schools in Johnson County, Kan. and Jackson and Northern Cass Counties,” Widaman said. “We have a lot of experience bringing all levels of education together and these new Open House events narrows the focus further for parents in surrounding communities. It’s an informative evening that parents can’t afford to miss.”
