Garfield Community Center to offer more programs; Open House is July 26

A grand opening open house for ASPIRE Gymnastics’ new location at Garfield Community Center, 1600 NE Quincy, is scheduled for 5:30-7 p.m. on July 26. The opening of the location in the community center is a partnership between Shawnee County Parks + Recreation and ASPIRE Gymnastics.

“Contracting with partners such as Aspire Gymnastics Club and Michelle Rakestraw allows the department to offer core programs in a lesser frequented facility but that meet public requests,” said Susan Fowler-Hentzler, SCP+R recreation superintendent. “Such partnerships also help us offer programming and manage facilities affordably.”

The open house at Garfield Community Center will include such fun as an obstacle course, drawings for free classes, enrollment discounts, photobooth, t-shirts and more.

ASPIRE classes range from tiny tots, preschool, beginner, intermediate and advanced gymnastics, beginner and intermediate dance, tumbling, open gym, birthday parties, private lessons and a competitive team. Fall enrollment is now open.
