More than 25 ministry leaders recently gathered in New York City to advance their mission of fulfilling the Great Commission by 2033. Billy Wilson, the Empowered21 global chair, and Rick Warren, executive director of Finishing the Task, were hosts for the event.

“We are presently in a great moment of spiritual opportunity,” Wilson said. “As we reach the year 2033, how wonderful would it be to lay at the feet of Jesus the most significant Great Commission effort in the history of the church? That’s what brings us and keeps us at this table.”

Warren agreed.

“This can be done, but it will require faith,” he said. “We know the fulfillment of the Great Commission is inevitable because Jesus said He is not coming back until it is fulfilled. The only question is, will we be the generation that fulfills it or will we abdicate our responsibility to a future generation?”

The meeting was marked by times of prayer, focused dialogue and purposeful networking. Members also discussed innovative pathways to increase operational integration toward collaborative evangelism and unity of mission. Ministry and other organizations represented include:

“I’m thrilled to see how the Holy Spirit is uniting people across the Body of Christ around the goal of getting the gospel to EveryONE on earth by 2033,” stated Ashley Wilson, Executive Director, Empowered21.
