Vice President Mike Pence will be in Kansas City Wednesday, where he is expected rally supporters over the numerous accomplishments of the administration’s first two years and get in a little campaigning for U.S. Rep Kevin Yoder of Kansas.
Pence will fly into the Wheeler Downtown Airport at around 10:45. While here, Pence will attend a political event for the popular Yoder in a nod that the seat is important to keeping the majority in Congress.
At 12:30 p.m. Pence will deliver remarks at the America First Policies event “Tax Cuts to Put America First!” being held at the Kansas City Marriott Downtown, 200 W. 12th St.
Pence is expected to speak about 12:30 p.m.
Prior to the Vice President’s remarks, America First Policies will host a panel discussion concerning the impact the tax cuts are having in Kansas City and Kansas.
The panelists are expected to include U.S. Sen. Jerry Moran and U.S. Rep. Lynn Jenkins.
Supporters of the president are expected to show up in large numbers in counter-balance to protesters who are planning a “Sausage Fest”. The local homosexual community is planning the profane demonstration, bribing attendees with free sausages.
A small local alternative radio station tweeted out to listeners encouragement to come out and protest:
“Pence is no fan of the LGBTQ+ community, and we’re no fan of his. So we’re throwing The Mike Pence Sausage Fest across the street at Barney Allis Plaza starting at 11a. Stop by and get a free hot dog while we have them!”
Pence has come under criticism from the left for his conservative policies and has been the subject of many vile attacks–even at his private residence in Indiana.
In February Pence, always the peace maker, offered an olive branch to U.S. Olympic athlete Adam Rippon who refused to be part of the Vice President’s meeting with Team USA members.
Pence responded directly on Twitter with what many considered quite charitable and patriotic response:
“I am proud of you and ALL OF OUR GREAT athletes and my only hope for you and all of #TeamUSA is to bring home the gold. Go get ’em!” he told the athlete.
Rippon came away with a Bronze medal as part of the U.S. Skating Team and failed to medal in any personal events.
If you are interested in showing Pence your support, you can show up at Barney Allis Plaza by 11:00 a.m. for his arrival. The Marriott is across the street from the north side of the Barney Allis Plaza. Parking is tight during the day and supporters may want to consider parking at Crown Center then taking the light rail up Main Street, exiting at the Metro Center at 12th and Main then walking several blocks west to the Marriott.
