Missourians and Kansans love Christmas movies. From the hundreds to choose from, several rise to the top as the most searched movie in each state and amazingly, they’re pretty similar lists.
Movie watchers in both states absolutely love “The Grinch.” It topped the list of most-searched Christmas movies in both states in a ranking by Scholaroo.
The company usually searches the internet to help college students find scholarships. This time, it analyzed data about the most-searched holiday movie in every state. In Missouri, the top five movies are:
- “The Grinch”
- “Home Alone”
- “Falling for Christmas”
- “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”
- “The Nutcracker”
The list for Kansas is similar:
- “The Grinch”
- “Home Alone”
- “Falling for Christmas”
- “How the Grinch Stole Christmas
- “Elf”
Overall, “The Grinch” is the most-searched-for Christmas movie in 23 states. “Home Alone” is the clear favorite in 18 other states, including almost all of the East Coast. “Falling for Christmas,” staring Lindsay Lohan, is the most- searched-for movie this year in eight states. Alaska is the only state where “The Nutcracker” is the most-searched holiday movie. No state picked “Die Hard.”
In the No. 1 spot is the 2019 animated movie “Klaus,” with a score of 88 percent. Rounding out the top 10 are:
- “It’s a Wonderful Life”
- “Edward Scissorhands”
- “The Shop Around the Corner”
- “The Nightmare Before Christmas”
- “A Christmas Story”
- “Little Women”
- “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang”
- “Home Alone”
- “The Muppet Christmas Carol”
