TV station fires editor after altered video of President’s address

altered

While the media says it doesn’t exist, another example of “fake news” has resulted in a major Seattle TV station firing a news editor after the station aired an altered video of Pres. Donald Trump’s recent Oval Office address.

As the Seattle Times explained, “The video was changed to make it look as if Trump was sticking his tongue out languidly between sentences. In addition, the colors in the video look more saturated, leading the president’s skin and hair to appear more orange.” The video also appears to have been altered giving the President a bloated face and large chin.

Fox-affiliate Q13 is owned by Tribune Broadcasting, a subsidiary of the Tribune Media Company which also owns The Los Angles Times and Chicago Tribune–newspapers that have been questioned concerning their reporting on the administration.

The station’s news director Erica Hill told the Seattle Times in a statement the video editing “does not meet our editorial standards and we regret if it is seen as portraying the president in a negative light.” She added that one editor was responsible and has been fired.

iMediaEthics has written to Q13 to ask how it learned of the editing and which editor was fired. “It is unclear whether the employee created the doctored video or just allowed it to go on air” according to the Seattle Times.

Conservative talk radio 770 KTTH reported that one of its listeners flagged the video.

The president has, over the last two years, released numerous examples of media bias, none of which the media has denied.
