American media outnumbers protest in awkward reporting

nato protests

Cable news outlets reported it as a huge planned protest with thousands expected to fill the streets against President Trump during his appearance at the NATO summit.

“Make Peace Great Again” organizers were expecting few a thousand protestors to gather outside the NATO summit in Brussels on Wednesday evening to protest President Trump’s attendance. Every group on the left of the political spectrum was invited and expected to attend from Greenpeace, to political parties and groups such as the Socialist Party,  TrotskyistsMaoistsanarchs-communists and New Leftists. Plus,  the big one–the French Communist Party,

The largest turnout was expected from the Belgian Workers’ Party, which gets its playbook almost entirely from the writings of Karl Marx. Three years ago, the party got its first two representatives elected to the federal parliament and, since then, the party has gained significant support — especially in the depressed industrial region of Wallonia where it was polling at 18.4 percent recently, within striking distance of the French-speaking Socialists (PS) at 25.4 percent and the Liberal Reformist Movement at 23.1 percent.

None of them cared to show up to protest President Trump. The reality is that the average European citizen doesn’t care and their supposed hatred of the American president may be more in the minds of the liberal newscasters than in the public mind.

Euro News’ Damon Embling reported that organizers were expecting a few thousand people to attend the protest and that view was picked up during the day by CNN, MSNBC, CBS, ABC and other American news outlets.

Problem is, only a couple dozen demonstrators showed up. There were more American reporters looking for Trump haters than there were protesters.

Awkward…

The protesters were rallying around the slogan “Make Peace Great Again,” a play on Trump’s 2016 campaign slogan, “Make America Great Again.”

Embling asked one of the organizers why only a couple dozen demonstrators showed up at the protest.

“I think it’s, what went wrong is not the good question to ask,” the clearly frustrated organizer said.

As the president arrives in London today, the media has now turned its attention to planned protests there, which are expected to be larger. Polling shows the average British citizen agrees with the majority of policies the Trump administration has put forth during the last 18 months. Anarchist and socialist/communist groups are still expected to organize protests Wednesday and Thursday.
