Democrat Raphael Warnock has defeated pro-life Senator Kelly Loeffler in one of the two Georgia runoff Senate races. Warnock was ahead with just over 50 percent of the vote.
Pro-life Republican U.S. Sens. David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler had faced challengers Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff, both pro-abortion Democrats. If Perdue also loses the second Georgia seat, the Senate will have a 50-50 party split, with the vice president casting the deciding vote on issues like forcing taxpayers to fund abortions and expanding late-term abortions.
Warnock last November stated he said he would “always fight” to keep abortions legal in America and spoke of expanding abortion up until the moment of birth. Warnock, the senior pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church, supports abortion on demand and had the endorsement of the largest abortion group in America, Planned Parenthood.
He wrote, “I will always fight for reproductive justice,” a term that includes abortion on demand.
A day later, he added, “I’m a pro-choice pastor, and I believe that a hospital room is way too small for a woman, her doctor, and the United States government.”
As a Georgia senator, Warnock, who allegedly ran over his wife with his car, would help Democrat leaders force taxpayers to fund elective abortions, pack the Supreme Court with pro-abortion activist judges and force states to allow viable unborn babies to be killed in late-term abortions.
In an August interview, Warnock told podcast host Tim Bryan that the decision to abort an unborn baby should be up to a woman “and her doctor and her minister.” He said he believes abortions are part of the “human agency and freedom” that God gives people.
Pro-life advocates and Christian leaders have expressed outrage at Warnock’s attempts to justify killing unborn babies as a matter of faith and justice.
“Murdering a child is the antithesis of justice,” Live Action founder Lila Rose wrote in response. “How dare you claim the name of Christ while you advocate for the ‘right’ to slaughter His children, made in His image. Your words are Satanic.”
Christian singer Danny Gokey and former NFL player Ben Watson also slammed Warnock for misleading people about the value of human life.
“Killing boys & girls in the womb is not a brave or heroic act like the left loves to portray,” Gokey wrote. “Everyone of us needed someone to fend & fight for us when we couldn’t defend ourselves. Most confusingly-abortion has murdered millions of woman & blacks-The ones they say they fight for.”
Watson added: “Pastor, Equal access to kill a son or daughter is NOT justice. JUSTICE is the equitable distribution of punishment AND protection. JUSTICE is rooted in the dignity of every human endowed by their Creator. One cannot truly fight for JUSTICE while simultaneously denying it.”
Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life Action, says Democrats also could pack the U.S. Supreme Court with pro-abortion activist judges if the Senate swings to Democrat control.
The candidates’ positions on abortion could not be more starkly different.
Loeffler and Perdue both have 100-percent pro-life voting records, including supporting the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which would prohibit abortions after 20 weeks on unborn babies capable of feeling pain, and the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which would protect newborns from infanticide.
During the election, pro-life groups including AFA Action and Susan B. Anthony List were on the ground in Georgia educating voters about the candidates.
