Kirk Cameron, Love Worth Fighting For tour coming to Kansas City

Love Worth Fighting For, a national marriage event tour, featuring television and film actor Kirk Cameron, makes a stop in Olathe on Saturday, Nov. 19. The three-hour event is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. at College Church of the Nazarene. Through comedic stories, life-experiences, music and prayer Cameron, and musical guest Warren Barfield will travel around the country teaching singles, engaged, newly married and veteran couples about ways to encourage and strengthen a marriage.

The heart of the event emanates from the storyline of Fireproof, a hugely popular movie that features Cameron playing the role of a firefighter who seeks to save his crumbling marriage.

“We’ve taken Fireproof and transformed it into a live event,” Cameron says. “Along with wonderful music and our personal stories and experiences, we’ll provide insight and teaching from the Bible on the subject of the most important relationship on the planet.”

Cameron is a television and film actor and producer noted most recently for his work in the inspiring documentary film Monumental: In Search of America’s National Treasure. He is also known for his memorable performance in the film, Fireproof (the highest grossing independent film of 2008), his roles on ABC’s Growing Pains, the Left Behind movies, and as co-host of The Way of the Master.

Throughout the past seven years, the Love Worth Fighting For tour has reached hundreds of thousands of people across the country, many exclaiming the lasting positive affects the tour had on their marriage. Cameron and Barfield want to continue to tear down more barriers, come together around the gospel, and build up more marriages and families.

“Marriage is one of the few things we can’t afford to lose. We can lose our jobs, our savings, our friends, but we can bounce back from that. I don’t want to come to the end of life and find that I’ve lost the love of my wife and the respect of my kids. Those are the important things…the things worth fighting for,” added Cameron.

Tickets range from $20 to $50 each and are available as reserved seats or general admission for singles, couples and groups of 10 or more.
