Nation’s culture wars have religious underpinnings, Sen. Josh Hawley says

Many progressives have made a religion out of climate change, Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley told talk show host Tucker Carlson.

“I think what’s really going on here with the Biden administration is this is a religion to them,” he said. “The climate agenda is a religion to them. The religion is that America is fundamentally bad and that the American way of life, particularly American workers and the middle-class families, the way they live is bad and needs to change. They don’t like people driving around in cars. They don’t like the suburbs. They don’t like all the energy we use.

“Why? They don’t like how we live, they want to change how we live. The real targets of their war are the American people, the working class and middle class. I have to say, if that is their goal, they are succeeding.”

Hawley went on to say that some on the left oppose America’s Christian heritage.

“But here’s the thing, that they won’t quite say out loud but is absolutely true is that what the war they really are waging, the cultural war they’re most interested in, is right here in the United States of America,” he said. “It’s America’s, let’s be honest, Christian culture that they don’t like, it is the way that we live, it is the way that working people and middle-class folks lie. It’s the values that we hold, they don’t like any of those things, and they want to destroy the economic underpinnings of America’s middle class and working class. That’s what this is about.

“That’s why Joe Biden says stuff like this is a necessary transition. Transition to what? To their secular progressive utopia, I guess, in the meantime, we all just have to suffer the consequences.”
