On Giving Tuesday, help Anita and Dwight educate young people about the Holocaust

Giving Tuesday is an opportunity to support worthy causes. We would like you to consider helping educate today’s young people about the Holocaust.

In 2019, Dwight and I launched the educational non-profit Vision Israel (visionisrael.com).

It was birthed after the realization that younger generations are unfamiliar with Israel’s history, anti-Semitism and the Holocaust.

For the most part, anti-Semitism is not addressed by the public or private school systems. Vision Israel’s primary goal is to correct this by educating young people about the Holocaust and anti-Semitism.

Education is accomplished through museum-quality large-scale displays, multi-media presentations, plus public forums addressing Holocaust and anti-Semitism. The displays will be exhibited at both the high school and college level, civic meetings, and in public spaces thus opening up opportunities for dialog across the community.

Anti-Semitism is rampant around the world with its seeds often being planted on university campuses, pop-culture and mass media. The Holocaust is disappearing from textbooks and public memory.

Young people are most often only exposed to a one-sided view of Israel and the Jewish people that denies the tremendous contribution they make to society. News reporting regularly portrays Israel as the aggressor in an age-old conflict, while ignoring facts on the ground and the unique and valuable history of the Jewish people.

With your help we can change that.

The Need:

Vision Israel’s goal is to visit six campuses in 2021-2022 school year, plus several other public venues. The immediate financial need for 2021 is $4,500. This start-up capital will primarily fund the production of Ready-to-Display Exhibits through a partnership with the education department of Yad Vashem – the world’s official Holocaust Memorial and Museum in Jerusalem. Our goal is to eventually own three exhibits that we can rotate, depending on the display venue and audience. Each exhibit costs approximately $2,600 to reproduce according to the standards required by Yad Vashem.

Your Part:

If you would like to contribute to the initial purchase of the Yad Vashem exhibit, Shoal: How was it Humanly Possible, please send a donation to: Vision Israel, PO Box 1114, Lee’s Summit, MO 64063.

At this time, we are not set up to take online donations.
