Restaurant employee assault on Eric Trump leads to Secret Service arrest

Chicago police said officers assisted the U.S. Secret Service with “a law enforcement matter” regarding a federal protectee understood to be President Donald Trump’s son Eric Trump.

Chicago Police Department Chief Communications Officer Anthony Guglielmi said in a June 26 statement on Twitter that “CPD was on scene and assisting the United States Secret Service with a law enforcement matter,” suggesting that the incident related to “a federal protectee.”

Mary Ann Ahern, a reporter for NBC Channel 5 in Chicago, posted a statement on Twitter on Tuesday, June 25, saying that the assault occurred when an employee of the Chicago restaurant The Aviary attacked Trump by spitting on him, adding that the Secret Service had arrested the suspect.

Spraying another person with any fluid, including bodily fluid including spit or urine, is considered as assault.

“Hearing of incident at Aviary tonight, an employee allegedly spit on son of @realDonaldTrump who is visiting Chicago, offender now in US Secret Service custody,” Ahern wrote and shared a photograph from the scene showing a law enforcement presence talking to what appears to be the president’s son.

Eric Trump confirmed the incident on Tuesday night, telling Breitbart News that an employee of the upscale cocktail lounge in Chicago’s West Loop spat on him.

“It was purely a disgusting act by somebody who clearly has emotional problems,” Eric Trump told Breitbart News. “For a party that preaches tolerance, this once again demonstrates they have very little civility. When somebody is sick enough to resort to spitting on someone, it just emphasizes a sickness and desperation and the fact that we’re winning.”

Breitbart reported that the female employee had approached the president’s son as he entered the bar with companions.

She allegedly uttered some anti-Trump statements that could not be made out distinctly and then targeted Trump with the spit assault.

Secret Service agents took the woman into custody and led her away in handcuffs. She was reportedly later released after the president’s son opted not to press charges.

In referring to the assault, Eric Trump took to Instagram not long after the incident sharing a quote by the Greek philosopher Socrates: “When the debate is lost, slander becomes the tool of the losers.”

Earlier, he shared photos on social media of the Chicago skyline featuring Trump Chicago.

He wrote on Twitter: “Always love visiting @TrumpChicago! It is one of the most beautiful buildings in the world! @TrumpHotels.”

The president’s son also posted an image of the skyscraper with the caption “at Trump International Hotel & Tower Chicago.”
