Walmart is donating $1 million to an Israel relief agency in response to the “horrific and inhuman” October 7 attacks by Hamas.

The Walmart Foundation sent a message to its employees and business associates saying, “As you all know, throughout these horrific and inhuman attacks by Hamas, Magen David Adom has played a critical role in providing medical aid to victims,” the statement read, “To show support for all persons affected by these tragedies in the region, the Walmart Foundation is committing $1m. in funding to MDA for emergency services to save lives.”

Magen David Adom is similar to the Red Cross.

Palestinian terrorists on Oct. 7 murdered 1,400 men, women, and children in southern Israeli communities. Victims continue to be identified because of the horrific nature of the attacks, which included a baby being burned alive in an oven that was found on high by first responders.

Other atrocities include children being bound and heaped in a pile before being set afire, along with countless decapitations. In all, 40 babies were murdered by Hamas.

The company has substantial ties to Israeli software engineers, data scientists, cybersecurity specialists, and product managers who collaborate to enhance customers’ shopping experiences. Zeekit, Aspectiva, and Team8 are some of its Israeli partners, and the foundation provided them with unwavering support.

Walmart’s statement read, “These attacks have directly and tragically impacted us, our friends, and our families,” the statement said. “But Walmart Global Tech Israel is not alone. We are part of a resilient Israeli tech ecosystem that stands strong and proud during these tough times, and we are part of a global Walmart family who share the same values and commitment to our customers, members, and one another. It is these characteristics that strengthen us, even at times of great difficulty.”

“In these days of heartbreak and uncertainty, I am thankful and proud of our teams in Israel who, despite everything, continue to support each other as one Walmart family. This is who we are and how we will prevail,” the statement continued. “Our hearts go out to colleagues, partners, and the communities in which we serve and live.”

The substantial donation is on top of the $1 million the foundation promised to the U.S. Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C. on October 18.

The donation was made in response to the “increase in antisemitic speech and hate crimes” in the US, according to a LinkedIn post by CEO Doug McMillon.

Other companies making substantial donations to Israel include Disney ($2 million), Bloomberg ($2 million), NBC ($2 million), and UBS which said it would match employee contributions up to $5 million.
