You can help City Union Mission ‘Celebrate Hope’

celebrate

City Union Mission began their CELEBRATE HOPE: Reach Out to K.C.’s Poor or Homeless campaign on October 1 with the objective of securing about half of the Mission’s yearly operating budget by January 31, 2019. They are currently halfway through their four-month campaign and have $4,381,383 yet to raise to meet their $6 million goal.

“We are so grateful for the outpouring of financial gifts and support we’ve received so far in this campaign,” said Executive Director Dan Doty. “We continue to rely on that same level of generosity during these final weeks as we prepare to provide food, shelter and faith-based guidance for those who will turn to us in the year ahead.”

On a daily basis, the Mission provides safe beds and care for as many as 400 homeless men, women and children and serves 800 nutritious meals to those in their care, along with hungry individuals and families from the community. Through the ministry’s long-term Christ-centered recovery programs, which include spiritual guidance, life-skills training, adult education, career development and job placement assistance, men and women are empowered to overcome their challenges and rebuild stable futures, rooted in God’s Word.

Doty and the Mission staff encourage the community to help the Mission finish out this campaign strong and to continue to remember their struggling neighbors throughout the holiday season. If current trends continue, the Mission expects to be called on to assist as many men, women and children as ever.

There’s still time to help in the Celebrate Hope campaign.

“In these final weeks, we’re calling out to our community partners to help us by giving their greatest gifts yet to ensure no individual or family goes without the care and support they need,” Doty said.

Every donation the Mission receives between now and January 31, 2019, will count toward the campaign goal. Gifts can be made online at cityunionmission.org or mailed to City Union Mission, P.O. Box 270107, Kansas City, Missouri 64127. Campaign updates, as well as information about the Mission’s full range of programs and services, are also available on the site.
