Founder of 40 Days of Life to headline Parkville Women’s Clinic banquet

Shawn Carney, founder of the 40 Days of Life movement, recently tweeted, “The abortion industry fears science, reason, and love. We can change endless hearts when we share all three unapologetically.”

Carney, who is the special guest speaker for the 2021 Parkville Women’s Clinic fundraiser, has done exactly that. His actions as a college volunteer have grown into an international effort that has been held in 64 nations, 50 states and 956 cities–including Kansas City.

Parkville Women’s Clinic’s (PWC) annual fundraising banquet is Oct. 12 at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. Registration begins at 6:30 and the dinner and program begin at 7 p.m. “There is no cost to attend however an opportunity to give will be extended,” stated Sonya Rice, Executive Director.

Rice says, “The Clinic has been in existence since 2004. We seek a holistic approach to our health services. Excellence in best practices coupled with compassionate non-judgemental care for those facing unplanned pregnancies and sexual health crisis. We have a commitment to champion the voice of the voiceless.”

Rice is excited about Carney sharing his journey and motivating and challenging their new group for young adults called, “Y’ALL,” which stands for Young Adults Loving Life. We really want to infuse a generation for life.”

He began in the pro-life movement in college as a volunteer and after college was asked to be the Executive Director of the organization he volunteered for, the Coalition for Life, which was made up of over 60 churches.

Those who know him say his passion for local pro-life ministry developed when he orchestrated the purchase and remodeling of a new office next door to the Planned Parenthood abortion facility to offer free pregnancy tests, free ultrasounds, and loving support to women.

Carney

In 2004, he helped to lead the first-ever 40 Days for Life campaign in College Station, Texas. This breakthrough initiative – made up of 40 days of prayer and fasting for an end to abortion, the round-the-clock peaceful vigil outside a local abortion center, and grassroots door-to-door outreach – dropped local abortion numbers by 28%.

Rice says the work we do every day is truly about relational rehab, connecting to the heart of God. It is about treating each person who walks in our doors with dignity and respect they deserve because they are image bearers.

She’s positive concerning the support PWC receives from the area community at fundraisers and throughout the year. This year, however, there is an increased Missouri tax credit available for donations to most Pregnancy Resource Centers.

“It has gone from 50% to 70%,” she says. “For donations of $100 or more you can receive a 70% tax credit on your MO taxes.” There’s a form on PWC’s website www.pwc4life.us for donors to complete. The staff will assist you by calling 816.746.4855 or contacting them at info@parkvillewomensclinic.com

Carney knows firsthand the joys and challenges of running and funding a local prolife organization. Attendees of the banquet will be encouraged and motivated.
