Fox News is #3 as viewers continue to punish network

Fox News Channel continues to struggle as a result of its election and post-election coverage. The news channel’s viewers, typically some of the most loyal and conservative, have not returned after having left by the millions since election night on Nov. 3. Ratings as of Tuesday, Dec. 15 show CNN and MSNBC winning in most categories.

After dominating cable viewership for news as the gorilla in the room for several years, Fox is now struggling to retain a number 3 position with upstart Newsmax nipping at its heels. Even Mike Lindell, who’s My Pillow commercials filled Fox’s commercial breaks, has left the network.

Both CNN and MSNBC, while now roundly beating Fox, don’t have much gloating to do. Instead of growing their viewership, the cable networks have not benefited from the exodus from Fox by Christians and conservatives. Viewership tracking companies have found that Fox viewers have left cable altogether, moving to Newsmax, OAN, and NTD. Newsmax has even beat Fox programming for some segments even while it is found primarily only through streaming or YouTube.

Fox News’ conservative viewers have not only punished the company’s news programs, but also its conservative evening hosts with Tucker Carlson, MacCallum, and Hannity also losing viewers with some shows now taking a number third place.
