Kamala Harris tells ABC News America is not a ‘racist country’

In a surprising admission, Vice President Kamala Harris has confirmed that America is not racist.

Her comments on ABC News contradict much of the current media narrative that is driven by groups like Black Lives Matter and most liberals across the nation.

Harris was interviewed on ABC News by George Stephanopoulos after Joe Biden’s belated State of the Union address, which came over three months after Biden ascended to office.

The Republican response to Biden’s speech was given by South Carolina Senator Tim Scott, one of only three blacks in the Senate. Scott stated that as a black man, he does not believe the country is racist. He was attacked by Democrats and media commentators including with racial slurs and comments.

But Harris agreed with Scott in her post-speech interview, saying, “I believe that we need to adj… well, first of all… no. I don’t think America is a racist country, but we also do have to speak truth about the history of racism in our country and its existence today.”

That’s a huge departure from the talking points currently emanating from Hollywood, academia and Critical Race Theory, and Democrats in Congress.

The admission was pointed out across social media but most major news outlets ignored her comments. Harris’s comments also caught many on the left off-guard because the premise of America as “systemically racist” is driving protests, Critical Race Theory in schools, and media attacks.

It also points out that, for many on the left, it’s about keeping black voters in the Democrat Party.

Fox News’s David Rutz tweeted:

“CNN’s @VanJones68, a strong Joe Biden-Kamala Harris backer, said last night that Scott had lost “tens of millions” Black voters by saying the country wasn’t racist. Harris this morning said the country wasn’t racist.”

Jones had originally attacked Scott’s speech on CNN asserting that Scott had “lost a lot of African American [voters], by the tens of millions, when he said that America is not a racist nation.”

Racist slurs by Democrats trended on Twitter against Scott, with many asking why it took Twitter so long to take down the tweets when they were directed at a Republican.

Some even referred to Scott as “Uncle Tom,” or “Uncle Tim.”

“Twitter is choosing to trend a racist attack from the left on Sen. Tim Scott,” The Federalist’s Mollie Hemingway tweeted. “Apparently they want him to suffer for the crime of upstaging Biden via a highly effective speech.”

Black conservatives have often been on the receiving end of the insult, such as Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, who was repeatedly referred to as “Uncle Clarence” by far-left MSNBC anchor Joy Reid last year.

MSNBC and CNN personalities pilloried Scott afterward, however, including left-wing anchor Nicolle Wallace, who said he spoke from a “planet where facts don’t matter.” She also falsely said Operation Warp Speed, which Scott touted during the speech, had nothing to do with the successful distribution of vaccines.

Scott’s speech was well-received by conservatives and independents across the nation, with some commentators saying he had improved his political standing in a speech that is famous for being difficult to give.
