One million illegal migrants by summer, warns Congressman

Illegal border crossings will hit one million by summer. That’s the assessment of the Biden border crisis given by Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Texas) to ABC News on Sunday morning.

“It’s going to get worse. It’s going to get a lot worse, springtime, summer, more and more come over. The message is coming back that, ‘Hey, we got a new president, come on in, we’re open for business to the traffickers,’” McCaul said in an interview on ABC’s “This Week.”

“I predict a million people trying to get into this country by the summertime,” McCaul said as others say warmer weather approaches.

The dire prediction of one million migrants, which has serious implications for the spread of the coronavirus, comes as the Biden administration continues to ban American news outlets from the border migrant holding camps. On Sunday however, a Mexican news outlet released a single photo taken inside a facility showing children in what appeared to be overcrowded areas divided by chain link fencing. Media outlets and Biden had previously referred to those as “cages” during the Trump administration.

Last week a flood of migrants continued to pour across the border reaching a high not seen since the Clinton administration some 20 years ago. The number illegally entering continues to grow exponentially. In the last four weeks, well over 100,000 crossed the border. CBS News reported on Saturday that one facility meant to hold under 270 kids had over 3,200 squeezed into it. It also had male teenagers in the same rooms with unsupervised children as young as four according to CBS.

President Joe Biden has faced criticism from both Republicans and Democrats whose districts are along the border with Mexico. At issue is a total reversal of immigration policies put in place by former President Donald Trump. Biden used his executive orders to reverse Trump policies which saw a record low entries during 2020.  In addition, Biden completely stopped the completion of the border security wall and sent contractors home.

One promise Biden made during the campaign, citizenship for 11 million illegal aliens currently living in the U.S., is likely contributing to the crisis.

Rep. Brian Babin (R-Texas) stated that Biden’s rhetoric was fueling what he described as a humanitarian and national security crisis.

“Hundreds of countries are sending people over to the United States because of these promises,” Babin said.

“Come on up here, step one foot in, and you will be admitted,” Babin said, characterizing the thrust of the Biden administration’s messaging on immigration. “And eventually you will be on a path to citizenship and you’ll receive an education … you’ll get free health care, you will get even stimulus checks,” he added.

Human trafficking is increasing at an alarming rate according to a former Homeland Security official

“The administration’s policy of resettling any 17-year-old or younger who was trafficked to our borders, is a global policy of family separation. What they are saying to every family on planet Earth, is split off your own children and put them into the hands of coyotes and cartels if you want them to gain entry to this country,” Stephen Miller, who advised former President Donald Trump, said on Fox Business’ “Sunday Morning Futures.”

“So instead of working through an actual humanitarian refugee process—that’s what you want to do, where you go in country with the U.N., any part of the world where you want to, and you have an actual refugee screening process, and you establish a transparent refugee ceiling. Instead of doing that, what they are doing is they are incentivizing long-term family separation. That is the policy of the Biden administration. And that needs to be said, it needs to be said clearly,” he added.

The Democrat mayor of a southern border town told the New York Post in an interview on Sunday that he’s incensed over the Biden administration’s handling of the immigration crisis in his backyard.

“You have a breach on national security levels that have never before been seen in modern history and you’re not even batting an eye about it, you’re not even calling it a ‘crisis,’ you’re calling it a ‘challenge,’” Mayor Bruno Lozano, a Democrat who represents Del Rio, Texas, told the outlet.

“It’s a slap in the face,” Lozano added.

Polls show Americans overwhelmingly oppose the open border policy of the Biden administration.
