Regnery Publishing will release “The Tyranny of Big Tech” by Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley this spring. Simon & Schuster broke a contract with him for his book following his vote to not accept electors on the day rioters broke into the Capitol.

“After witnessing the disturbing, deadly insurrection that took place on Wednesday in Washington, D.C., Simon & Schuster has decided to cancel publication of Senator Josh Hawley’s forthcoming book,” the publisher said. “We did not come to this decision lightly. As a publisher, it will always be our mission to amplify a variety of voices and viewpoints: at the same time, we take seriously our larger public responsibility as citizens, and cannot support Sen. Hawley after his role in what became a dangerous threat to our democracy and freedom.”

Hawley hit back at the publishing house, accusing it of launching a “direct attack on the First Amendment” and threatening legal action over the canceled book deal.

“This could not be more Orwellian,” he said in a statement. “Simon & Schuster is canceling my contract because I was representing my constituents, leading a debate on the Senate floor on voter integrity, which they have now decided to redefine as sedition. Let me be clear, this is not just a contract dispute. It’s a direct assault on the First Amendment. Only approved speech can now be published. This is the left looking to cancel everyone they don’t approve of .I will fight this cancel culture with everything I have. We’ll see you in court.”

In addition to Simon & Schuster, Loews Hotels has also cut ties with Hawley for objection to the certification of the election. Over the weekend, the hotel canceled a planned fundraiser for Hawley at the Loews Portofino Bay Resort at Universal Studios Orlando.

The company operates hotels in 28 cities including Kansas City, New York City, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, Los Angeles and Orlando.

Jonathan Tisch, CEO of Loews, is chairman emeritus of the United States Travel Association, a lobbying group, a trustee of Tufts University, and a board member of the Tribeca Film Institute. He is a co-owner, a member of the board of directors, and co-owner of the New York Giants. Records show that Tisch and his wife Lizzie donated to the anti-Trump PAC The Lincoln Project which fielded Democrats to oppose Republican candidates across the nation. The organization was embroiled in controversy this month when an investigation revealed that Lincoln’s founders funneled over $10 million in donations to their own private companies.
