MetroVoiceNews.com is the on-line edition of the Metro Voice newspapers. Metro Voice was established in 1989 as a regional non-denominational, faith-based community newspaper. Published by Widaman Communications, the company also published the weekly community newspapers Lee’s Summit Tribune (established 1994), Independence (MO) Weekly and the Noland Road Shopper. In addition, Widaman Communications publishes a regional yearly education guide delivered to 700 locations including schools, libraries, retail shops and churches.
Our award-winning publication includes a website with 350,000 unique monthly page views. Regular sections include local, national and world news, opinion, family features, travel, entertainment, reviews and classified ads.
Metro Voice was launched in 1989 and is published by Widaman Communications, Inc. under owners Dwight and Anita Widaman. Dwight has a 35-year background in professional newspaper work and advertising, having served as publisher and editor of several newspapers in the Kansas City area’s largest suburbs. Anita is a former educator and counselor and holds a specialist degree from the University of Missouri, Columbia. They are also founders of VisionIsrael, an educational organization that serves colleges across the nation in building bridges with the people of Israel and educating a new generation about the Holocaust.
Metro Voice is a member of the Evangelical Press Association – an international organization comprised of the leading publications serving the Christian community. Dwight served as board member of the organization for six years. Metro Voice is also a member of the Christian Newspaper Association, which has member papers throughout the United States and Canada.
