The Kansas City Jewish Film Festival (KCJFF) provides our diverse community an opportunity to encounter Jewish ideas and values by creating an open, inviting, and entertaining forum for films that explore issues of culture, identity, and history with a Jewish twist.

The 2021 KCJFF will be happening virtually with in-person viewings of select films!

This year the KCJFF is coming straight to you at home! When you purchase a ticket, you will be able to watch this film anytime within a 7-day period. AND, everyone at home can watch it with you! You can watch it on your cell phone, tablet, computer, or even your tv if you have that capability! The 2021 KC Jewish Film Fest features nine great films, with a combined 47 wins in national and international film awards. When I lost my husband in a tragic accident, I was sitting in church telling God he didn’t care about me. When we stood to sing, the person in front of me had a tee shirt on that had a picture of Christ on the cross with the words, “So you think I don’t care?” I was dumbfounded. Art in ministry is powerful.

This workshop will also show you how to use art to minister to younger children as well in a Bible school format, You will take home some supplies and 2 ebooks on the topic. Cost is $30.00 per student. You will also have an optional opportunity to do a mural for a ministry in KC. Contact me at visualmanna@gmail.com for more information.

On August 7th, 2021, 10.18 Strategy, in partnership with Build-A-Bear Foundation and other community organizations, will be hosting a Children’s Parade and Festival in the parking lot of Evangel Church at 9:00AM.
This family-friendly, public event is meant to bring together the entire KC metro community to celebrate the lives of local children who have suffered the horrors of abuse and neglect and the courageous caregivers who provide them safety.

Victimized children will receive gifts of comfort and celebration and will be offered the
opportunity to be the stars of the parade as our community surrounds, celebrates, and cheers for them. This can make a life-changing impact! Many victimized children have never been told they are valuable, wanted, or important to their community. This is the opportunity for us to show them that KC cares! We need the community’s presence!

Everyone from the Kansas City metro can be part of this community event. Fostering/adoptive families can sign up to receive gifts and be a part of the parade. Businesses and organizations can be event sponsors and/or sign up to run activity booths. Individuals and families can cheer on the parade and stay for the activities. Food trucks, bounce houses, and games will be part of the festivities.

There is no admission fee, but just $5 can sponsor a victimized child for this
event and there will be opportunities to donate on-site. All information and sign-up forms can be found on our website.

Flip it Blue is our biggest and most important fundraiser. This is how we make the money that we turn around and donate to candidates. JCDWS is a PAC, so our primary mission is to raise money to help local, Democratic candidates get elected to public office. We’ll be sending those checks in mid-to-late August, but first, we need to FLIP IT BLUE!

Our last Flip it Blue brought in over $2,500 for candidates and this year, we hope to make it even bigger and better so we’re pulling out all the stops – we’ll have games, prizes, and a fabulous raffle. Dinner will be Mexican cuisine, served via food truck.

This event is kid-friendly. Bring the whole family – the kids can enjoy a bottle flipping contest, bubbles, sidewalk chalk, and a nearby playground as well as Amazing Balloon Animals!

You’re pregnant! Congratulations! You’ve heard so many amazing things (or not so amazing things) about childbirth and breastfeeding. Some of them sound completely far fetched and some sound too good to be true.

This is where we come in. Childbirth is natural. Breastfeeding is a precious lost art we are relearning. We will teach you the key elements to childbirth and breastfeeding to help you have a strong beginning to your parenting journey. Gain the techniques you need to make sure your baby is latching correctly. Learn your options for giving birth at home comfortably and confidently. Identify and troubleshoot difficulties as they arise and have that beautiful birth and breastfeeding experience you’ve heard so much about.

The childbirth education portion of this class is being taught by Kristen Mason, MSP, CBE of Childbirth Together Education and Doula Services.

The breastfeeding portion of this class is being taught by Brittney Brownell, SBD of Rose Sparrow.

This class is a proud partner of KC Women’s Ministry, a local non-profit that provides education and birth services to those in need. KC Women’s Ministry believes that every family deserves a safe and dignified story.

Reconciliation Weekend is a three-day, two-night retreat held at a peaceful venue, where abortion-wounded women and men will experience unconditional love, grace, and forgiveness. Through the support of trained facilitators, men and women will be able to reconcile with God, themselves, others, and their children lost to abortion.

The power-packed, focused retreat allows time to advance the healing journey. Scripture, music, drama, and creative expression are utilized in groups and individual time to assist in the process of dismantling all the walls that keep the abortion-wounded in bondage.

Permission is afforded to grieve the lost children and work through the shame of the regretted choice to abort. The retreat concludes with a special memorial service where participants are given an opportunity to acknowledge and honor their child(ren), in the beauty of forgiveness and reconciliation.
