Nate Bargatze Sets Guinness Record With Clean Comedy
Comedian Nate Bargatze has shown that it pays to keep it clean. The “Guinness Book of World Records” recently recognized him for selling the most tickets on a stand-up comedy tour. He recently completed his Big Dumb Eyes tour which ran from April 2025 to this August.
Bargatze shared his perspective on clean comedy with SiriusXM radio, “Crosswalk Headlines” reported.
“I just was always going to work clean,” he said. “I come from that. You know, I’m from the South — Christian. Like, you grew up that kind of way. I could only watch clean comics. It was just being who I was, and who I was going to be in that kind of comedy is the comedy that I watched.”

Metro Voice has regularly covered Bargatze. He says he never considered going dirty for his comedy.
“I just started that way, which helped, because when you start that way, you write [that way]. I write that way,” he said. “I think that way. It’s not like I really had dirty jokes that I wanted to do or could do.”
Bargatze said he watched a steady diet of clean comedians while developing his own style, including Sinbad, Jerry Seinfeld, Bob Newhart and Bill Cosby. Sinbad’s “Afros and Bell Bottoms” routine, he said, was the first comedy special his parents let the entire family watch.
“I was blown away by it,” he said. “And he’s talking about ordering food at McDonald’s and all this stuff. It was just all this very relatable kind of thing.”
Bargatze has said his Christian faith gives his work a larger purpose and influences how he approaches success. “I am second — second to God, second to family,” he told The New York Times, adding that he also places his audience ahead of himself. “You kind of live to serve,” he said. Bargatze described his work as a calling rather than simply a career, saying he wants to create entertainment that children, parents and grandparents can enjoy together. Although he does not market himself as a faith-based entertainer, he has said he does not hide the Christian beliefs that shape his life and comedy.
A Guinness representative recognized Bargatze during a show in Toronto, presenting him with a plaque commemorating his record-breaking achievement.
“The most tickets sold for a stand-up comedy tour is 2,045,040 and was achieved by Nate Bargatze (USA) during his Big Dumb Eyes world tour, which was performed in 129 venues worldwide from 6 April 2025 to 16 August 2026,” Guinness posted on its website. “Nate’s set included his hilarious musings about DoorDash, facial recognition software and his wild family group chat, all shared with his signature dry delivery and family-friendly style.”
