Pray KC Night with God March 6 in Kansas City

With the World Cup on the horizon and a busy year ahead for Kansas City, a coalition of churches is inviting believers to pause, gather and pray.
Pray KC will host its next “Night with God” on March 6 at 7 p.m. at Colonial Presbyterian Church, 9500 Wornall Rd. Organizers describe the evening as a time of worship, guided prayer and shared vision for the city and surrounding suburbs.
“We are expectant for all that God is doing,” the group said in an announcement calling the Church in Kansas City “to come together with faith, hunger, and a deep desire to seek the welfare of our city.”
Pray KC is an ecumenical, citywide movement focused on unified prayer across congregations and traditions. Leaders say 2026 will include three “Nights with God,” each tied to key moments for the metro area. All will be held at Colonial Presbyterian’s Wornall campus.
The March gathering will also outline plans for a spring youth worship and prayer event, along with efforts to mobilize churches across the region to pray in the lead-up to World Cup activities.
Pastor Jon Shirley, leader of Pray KC, said the evening will set the tone for the ministry’s work in the coming months.
“It’s 2026 and Pray KC is excited about a brand new year and we’ve got a lot of things in store,” Shirley said in a video invitation. “So many things happening in Kansas City and so much requires prayer.”
Shirley said organizers hope to create “one expression of the unified church in Kansas City coming together to just cry out to God — ‘Your kingdom is wanted here. Come Lord Jesus, come.’”
The group’s website describes the gathering as imagining a “few skilled worship leaders and a united Church resting in the quiet presence of God. It will be a guided evening of prayer and friendship.”
Interested Metro Voice readers can RSVP on PrayKC’s website.
