Relive your dreams and immerse yourself in Disney100: The Exhibition with ten imaginatively themed galleries showcasing renowned classics from Snow White and Seven Dwarfs (1937), to Cinderella (2015), to Encanto (2021), and many more.

This is a rare chance for families, children, and loved ones to celebrate their love of some of Disney’s most timeless stories and step into the sensational Disney Story reflecting The Walt Disney Company’s last 100 years. You will marvel at 14 interactive installations and hundreds of artifacts including the latest members of the Disney family – Pixar, Star Wars, and MARVEL. Event Details

Area churches and other groups are collecting items such as small toys, school supplies, and hygiene items to pack in shoeboxes to send to children in need around the world as a means of demonstrating God’s love in a tangible way and to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. These simple gifts are shipped outside the United States to children affected by war, poverty, natural disaster, famine, and disease.

“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:19).
In the 11 countries where shoebox gifts are packed, Operation Christmas Child provides an opportunity for participants to be a part of fulfilling the Great Commission. In this church-to-church ministry model, churches who pack shoebox gifts partner with local churches around the world as they share God’s love with children in need and provide follow-up discipleship.
Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse, an international relief organization.
By partnering with the local church worldwide, each shoebox gift is a powerful tool for sharing God’s love — the Good News of Jesus Christ. Local Christians who know the culture and language best are given effective resources in their own language and a solid Biblical foundation so that they can communicate the Gospel within their own communities through shoebox outreach events and The Greatest Journey discipleship program. Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes are more than a short-term humanitarian effort, the Good News of Jesus Christ the children have the opportunity to hear has eternal significance. It has been shown that most children that receive a shoebox and hear the Gospel will tell 7-10 others, usually family, friends and neighbors about what they learned.

Kansas City’s favorite holiday lights drive-thru event, Winter Magic, is moving to Platte Purchase Park this year! The Kansas City Parks and Recreation Department invites one and all to Kansas City’s premiere drive-thru holiday light show. Families will drive through the longest animated light tunnel in the Midwest! There are sections dedicated to the 12 days of Christmas, a toy workshop, a KC proud section and so much more.

To kick off the magic of the season, a special lighting ceremony will be held. A ceremonial switch will be flipped to “turn on” the lights, signaling the official start of Winter Magic. Guests can enjoy the ceremony from their cars before the drive-thru officially opens. Immediately following the ceremony, the light show will officially open for cars to begin driving through. Tickets are $20 Monday-Thursday, $30 Friday and Sunday, and $40 on Saturdays and are available for purchase.

Kingsville, Mo. – Powell Gardens, Kansas City’s botanical garden, invites the public to experience the wonder of the Evergy Festival of Lights, running on select evenings from November 14, 2024, through January 4, 2025 (5-10 p.m.). This annual winter festival has enchanted guests for years, transforming the Gardens’ 175 acres with over one mile of shimmering lights, beautiful installations, and memorable holiday experiences.

Extended Light Path through the Marlese Lowe Gourley Island Garden: The expanded trail guides guests through a newly lit section of Powell Gardens, including the scenic Marlese Lowe Gourley Island Garden, allowing visitors to experience more of the garden’s winter beauty and architectural highlights.
Aliento a Tequila Photography Exhibit: New this season, the Aliento a Tequila (or The Spirit of Tequila) exhibit presents a stunning series of photographs by Joel Salcido, capturing the rich landscapes, culture, and traditions of tequila-making in Mexico. The exhibit is open daily during Evergy Festival of Lights, with children’s craft activities available nearby.
Concert Series in Iconic Space: The stunning Marjorie Powell Allen Chapel will host a series of live holiday performances on Friday and Saturday evenings, creating a serene and festive ambiance in an incredible setting. Purchase concert tickets online at www.powellgardens.org/events-and-classes.
Immersive Snow Globe in the Conservatory: Step into a snow globe, where a new wintery installation offers a perfect photo opportunity in a cozy, festive setting.

RETURNING FAVORITES:
Santa’s Workshop: Santa Claus will make special appearances on Fridays and Saturdays (November 29-December 21), spreading holiday cheer to young visitors. Mrs. Claus will join Santa for special story times on Saturdays (November 30-December 21). Visitors are encouraged to write a letter to Santa and make a free holiday craft daily.
Dazzling Light Maze: Guests of all ages can navigate the magical Light Maze, a sparkling labyrinth perfect for fun holiday adventures.
Cozy Warming Stations: Visitors can take a break and warm up at designated stations throughout Powell Gardens.
