Event Details

Kansas City’s favorite holiday lights drive-thru event, Winter Magic, is moving to Platte Purchase Park this year! The Kansas City Parks and Recreation Department invites one and all to Kansas City’s premiere drive-thru holiday light show. Families will drive through the longest animated light tunnel in the Midwest! There are sections dedicated to the 12 days of Christmas, a toy workshop, a KC proud section and so much more.

To kick off the magic of the season, a special lighting ceremony will be held. A ceremonial switch will be flipped to “turn on” the lights, signaling the official start of Winter Magic. Guests can enjoy the ceremony from their cars before the drive-thru officially opens. Immediately following the ceremony, the light show will officially open for cars to begin driving through. Tickets are $20 Monday-Thursday, $30 Friday and Sunday, and $40 on Saturdays and are available for purchase.

This annual winter festival has enchanted guests for years, transforming the Gardens’ 175 acres with over one mile of shimmering lights, beautiful installations, and memorable holiday experiences.

Aliento a Tequila Photography Exhibit: New this season, the Aliento a Tequila (or The Spirit of Tequila) exhibit presents a stunning series of photographs by Joel Salcido, capturing the rich landscapes, culture, and traditions of tequila-making in Mexico. The exhibit is open daily during Evergy Festival of Lights, with children’s craft activities available nearby.

RETURNING FAVORITES:
Santa’s Workshop: Santa Claus will make special appearances on Fridays and Saturdays (November 29-December 21), spreading holiday cheer to young visitors. Mrs. Claus will join Santa for special story times on Saturdays (November 30-December 21). Visitors are encouraged to write a letter to Santa and make a free holiday craft daily.
Dazzling Light Maze: Guests of all ages can navigate the magical Light Maze, a sparkling labyrinth perfect for fun holiday adventures.
Cozy Warming Stations: Visitors can take a break and warm up at designated stations throughout Powell Gardens.
