The Last Supper Movie: GCU Partners with Christian Film Veterans for Easter Release

The dramatic story of Jesus’s last supper with his disciples will come to life in movie theaters nationwide just in time for the Easter season, as Grand Canyon University teams up with major Christian film producers.

Grand Canyon University partnered with Pinnacle Peak Pictures, Canyon Productions, Great American Pure Flix and Grammy Award-winning artist Chris Tomlin to produce “The Last Supper.” The film, from the producers of “God’s Not Dead” and “The Case For Christ,” is a powerful portrayal of the final days of Jesus’ life with his disciples and depicts the ultimate act of love and sacrifice.

“‘The Last Supper’ is more than just a retelling of one of the most important moments in history,” University President Brian Mueller said. “It’s an invitation to see who Jesus really is — his love, his sacrifice and his call to serve. At GCU, our mission to serve others is a significant aspect of our educational journey and is derived from Christ’s life as a servant and his ultimate sacrifice.”

Canyon Productions CEO Shawn Boskie, who also is a member of GCU’s Board of Trustees, said the university’s mission aligns perfectly with “The Last Supper.”

“Our partnership with Grand Canyon University is so meaningful to me precisely because the institution’s commitment to service, faith and education mirrors the very themes of this film,” said Boskie, who earned a degree at the university after a 15-year career as a pitcher in Major League Baseball. “When I was a student at GCU, everything from an academic perspective was firmly rooted in biblical foundation.”

In addition to a financial investment in “The Last Supper,” GCU is helping promote the movie to millions of students, families, alumni and partners. The university also is proud that three of its alumni who are employed at Canyon Productions had a hand in various aspects of the film and are making contributions to the Christian entertainment industry.

The movie will be released in theaters nationwide on March 14.
