Topeka Metro Offers Free Rides on Election Day

There is no excuse for not voting in Topeka this election day. On Tuesday, November 6th, Topeka Metro will offer bus rides free of charge all day for fixed routes, and provide two free rides for paratransit users.

Susan Duffy, Topeka Metro general manager, believes that providing transportation for those who may have difficulties getting to the polls is a good way to help Topekans fulfill their civic duty.

“Transportation for our citizens should not be an obstacle on this very important day. Our free service provides everyone another transportation option to reach their poll location and cast their votes in the election,” said Duffy.

The Topeka Metropolitan Transit Authority (Topeka Metro) was created in 1973 by a vote of the city residents. Over the past four decades, Topeka Metro has grown from a small, privately owned bus service into a transportation solution provider, exploring and implementing transportation opportunities that enhance the social, economic and environmental well-being of the Topeka community.

Topeka Metro provided more than 1.2 million passenger trips in Fiscal Year 2018. For more information about Topeka Metro or the free ride program, call 783-7000, or go to www.topekametro.org.
