Christian Lingua progressing toward goal of translating the Bible into every language

Despite great progress made in translating the Bible into diverse languages around the world, more than 1,400 languages remain. “Imagine living your entire life without the word of God in your mother tongue,” said Michael Yurchuk, CEO of Christian Lingua. “That is the reality for millions today.”

Christian Lingua, the world’s largest Christian translation ministry, is celebrating 20 years of bringing the gospel to people worldwide. Through this endeavor, countless people have received the opportunity to read the Bible in their own language, including the Ikwere languages spoken in Southern Nigeria, Hindko in Pakistan’s Hazara communities and Limba in Sierra Leone.

The mission of Christian Lingua is rooted in Christ’s command: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations… teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20)

One verse can change one life. Native of several of countries with new translation shared the impact the scripture has had on their lives:

  • “For so long, I only heard the Bible but didn’t truly understand,” said Maria Gomez, a teacher in Guatemala. “Now, reading it in my own language touches my heart deeply. It brings me hope and peace like never before.”
  • “Having God’s word in my language feels like he is speaking directly to me,” said Joseph Mangi, a farmer in Kenya. “It gives me strength and fills me with joy. I want to share this gift with everyone in my village.”
  • “As a pastor, seeing my people read the Bible in our language fills me with joy,” said David Wapo, a pastor in Papua New Guinea. “Their faith grows stronger, and their hearts open wide to God’s love.
