Ben Kingsley Stars in Moses Series on Prime Video

From the producers of 'House of David'

Wonder Project, the company behind the acclaimed biblical drama “House of David,” will release “The Old Stories: Moses” sometime this spring on Amazon. The series will star Academy Award winner Ben Kingsley as Moses and Emmy Award nominee O-T Fagbenle as Pharaoh.

“From the world of ‘House of David,’ ‘The Old Stories: Moses’ is a three-part companion special that opens a window into the narratives that shaped Israel long before David took the throne,” according to the official description. “As the past unfolds with epic force, a young shepherd sees his own future reflected in the courage, failure and obedience of those who came before him.”

The project expands Wonder Project’s growing slate of faith-based content tied to Prime Video. According to Prime Video materials, the series will debut first on Wonder Project’s U.S. subscription channel before a wider global rollout.

Audiences have been fascinated by the story of Moses since the release of “The Ten Commandments” nearly 70 years ago, and filmmakers continue to revisit the Exodus account for modern audiences. Kingsley himself previously portrayed Moses in a 1995 television production, adding another layer of familiarity to the role.

“Moses is one of the most iconic figures in history, and his story still resonates with us today,” said Jon Erwin, who produced and directed the series. “We set out to tell ‘The Old Stories: Moses’ with a cinematic awe and scale that feels both epic and personal. I am especially proud of the cast performances, and I can’t wait for people to see it on Wonder Project.”

Early coverage of the trailer emphasized the scale of the production. In footage released publicly, Kingsley’s Moses recounts the burning bush encounter, saying, “I saw a fire… as if the fire was alive… and I heard a voice… He told me that I must return to Egypt… to where my people are in bondage.”

The series first will be shown on Wonder Project’s subscription on Prime Video in the United States and then globally on Prime Video at a later date. The newly released trailer shows Kingsley as he transforms into the prophet Moses. The trailer highlights some of the TV special’s epic sequences, including Moses splitting the sea to help his people escape their oppressors through the power of God.

The two-minute trailer opens with an elderly Moses recounting a fire-engulfed bush from which the voice of God spoke: “He told me that I must return to Egypt, to the place of my birth, to where my people are in bondage.” It also frames the confrontation with Pharaoh in personal terms, with Pharaoh accusing Moses of betrayal before Moses responds that he comes “on behalf of God.”

The cast also includes Louis Ferreira as Jesse, Anna Khaja as Zipporah and Rada Rae as Avva. Executive producers are Jon Gunn and Justin Rosenblatt for Wonder Project, alongside Gavin J. Behrman. It is produced by Adam Abel, Wonder Project and Amazon MGM Studios.
