Green Commute Challenge

The 18th Annual Green Commute Challenge returns this October. This month-long competition amongst individuals and employers has been going strong since 2008. The purpose of the challenge is to introduce different ways of getting around town that help reduce traffic congestion and improve our regional air quality.

There is no cost to participate. Individuals, schools, employers and local governments are encouraged to join. Participants must be at least 18 years old and live and/or work in any of the following counties: Cass, Clay, Jackson, Platte and Ray Counties in Missouri and Johnson, Leavenworth, Miami and Wyandotte counties in Kansas.

Points are earned for taking green modes to/from work or school: biking, scooting, walking/rolling, car/vanpooling, riding the bus or taking the streetcar. Participants record trips using the free WAY TO GO app and compete for a chance to win weekly prizes donated by local businesses.
