Calvary University plans three October events
Calvary University is opening its Kansas City campus for three October gatherings aimed at alumni, prospective students and Christians working with young people, putting the school’s “Faith for the Generations” theme into practice through a packed month of events.
The schedule begins with a reunion Thursday and Friday, Oct. 1-2, for students who attended Calvary from 1976 through 1986. The two-day program includes campus visits, shared memories, meals, old photographs and yearbooks, and a Friday songfest with Tim and Judy Mace.
Reunion participants also may attend the Presidents’ Dinner Thursday evening at the Student Life Center in Belton, Missouri. The dinner, hosted by co-presidents Dr. Teddy Bitner and Pastor Chris Williams, will highlight student stories and the university’s plans for preparing Christians to serve the church and wider world. Registration for both the reunion and dinner has closed, and the dinner is sold out.
Later in the month, high school juniors, seniors and college freshman transfers can get a firsthand look at campus life during Calvary Day on Monday, Oct. 26. The $25 registration fee covers meals and activities. Visitors may attend a class and chapel, eat lunch with department leaders, join a student panel and take part in games.
Incoming first-year traditional undergraduate students who attend the required portions of the visit and file the FAFSA may qualify for a $500 Campus Visit Scholarship, according to the university. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Calvary will close the month with its free NextGen Discipleship Conference at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, in Liberty Chapel, 15790 Elmwood Ave. The conference is designed to encourage and equip people investing in younger Christians.
Lunch is available for purchase. Orders must be placed by noon Monday, Oct. 26, but conference registration itself is free.
