Interserve USA Celebrates 50 Years of Wholistic Mission Work

Philadelphia, Oct. 2, 2014 |Christian News Service| – Interserve USA is celebrating 50 years of ministry among the Interserve USAunengaged and unreached people of Asia and the Middle East with the announcement of its Unseen 1/4 Campaign. The Unseen 1/4 refers to the unengaged and unreached peoples who live in the Muslim, Buddhist and Hindu worlds. These unreached comprise more than one quarter of the world’s population while only 3 percent of all Christian workers serve among them.

The peoples of Asia and the Arab worlds are among the most materially and socially impoverished in our world. Interserve Partners seek to address the whole person in these communities by using their skills to change tomorrow by what they do today. Workers serve alongside nationals as medical professionals, university professors, consulting engineers, and as humanitarian and development workers. Helping to create a new tomorrow for children at risk, women who have been trafficked, AIDS patients, the economically disenfranchised and victims of war and natural disaster are just some of the ways Interserve Partners are making the Gospel message visible in the hard places of the world.

Kicking off the 50th Anniversary celebration, InterserveUSA will host a series of events in five key cities: Philadelphia, Boston, Grand Rapids, Chicago, and Houston. The special evenings of dessert and speakers will recount the many ways God has worked through InterserveUSA over the past half-century, and cast a vision for the future of the organization. Attendees will learn firsthand about The Unseen 1/4 Campaign — a new full-scale effort to recruit, equip and mobilize more workers for the important work of bringing the whole Gospel to those often overlooked by traditional mission efforts.

Several key initiatives are being launched as part of the campaign to continue to address the needs of people who live in difficult and challenging circumstances. The task is huge, yet leaders of the organization believe that together God’s people can answer the call and enlarge on the vision of the international organization’s founders who helped create a better future for the women of India in 1852.

InterserveUSA ‘s brand new study journal, Discovering the Unseen, is a valuable resource for those who want to learn more about God’s heart for the nations and gain a vision for what is happening today among the unengaged and unreached peoples of the world. This reflective study journal, packed with personal stories and vignettes, is ideal for individual or small group use. It includes daily questions for reflection and weekly group-oriented activities.
