Powell Gardens welcomes Painted Garden (May 2-June 21) as joy and color sweep through the Gardens. This year’s display is a celebration of the enduring spirit of the Midwest called The Prairie Is Our Home.
Visitors are invited to wander through gardens alive with the bright colors of spring flowers while enjoying the open skies, rolling prairie, and deep sense of place that has shaped generations.
A highlight of the season is a new barn quilt art installation, a vibrant fusion of horticulture and heritage. By bringing these iconic designs to Kansas City’s botanical garden, Painted Garden honors the artistry of rural America while reimagining it in a living, blooming landscape.
Painted Garden remains rooted in Kansas City’s art community and will feature new work by Belger Arts in the Conservatory along with other artwork by local artists.
The spring festival is a joyful meeting of tradition and renewal. Painted Garden invites you to celebrate the prairie as both a place and a feeling, a home woven from color, culture, and community.
Powell Gardens is open Wednesday-Sunday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Baby Bottle Project is Just Around the Corner!
Looking for a meaningful way for your church, school, or community group to support pro-life education in Kansas? The KFL Baby Bottle Project is just around the corner!
From Mother’s Day to Father’s Day, churches, schools, community groups, Bible studies, and other organizations invite participants to take home a baby bottle, fill it with spare change, cash, or checks, and return it around Father’s Day. The collected donations are then sent to Kansans for Life to support our educational outreach across the state.
We are now preparing shipments of free Baby Bottle Project materials for groups across Kansas.
If your church, school, or group would like to participate this year, simply click the button below to fill out the short form and request your supplies.

May 29 through December 13, 2026
Divided into four sections, the exhibition explores the story behind the Berlin Wall and the world it represented – a global conflict between capitalism and communism that brought our planet to the brink of nuclear destruction.
The Berlin Wall. A World Divided. combines multiple perspectives and experiences through a unique collection of artifacts, media and diverse testimonies. The exhibition traces the origins and rise of the Cold War conflict.
Extending its narrative to the fall of the Wall in 1989, as a prelude to the end of the Cold War, the exhibition hints at the legacy of an era that continues, in essence, to shape the world and goes beyond the conventional narrative about the history of the Berlin Wall.
Included in your admission is an audio guide, which provides additional information with a carefully crafted narrative. Audio guide available in English, Spanish and French.
The Berlin Wall. A World Divided. is an exhibition by the Spanish company Musealia in collaboration with the Berlin Wall Foundation, the German institution that looks after the historical legacy and memory of the victims of the communist regime in East Germany.
Opens May 29, 2026 The Berlin Wall. A World Divided. is the story of the greatest symbol of division in the 20th century. For nearly three decades, the Berlin Wall divided a city. Now, The Berlin Wall. A World Divided. brings its story to life.
An unprecedented collaboration, which for the first time gathers more than 40 lenders from 20 international institutions, highlights the different perspectives and experiences of people living on both sides of the wall through a collection of 200 original objects on public display for the first time in North America.

Dramatic Truth Ballet Theatre’s new original ballet, Heritage, weaves together delightful dancing, historical melodies, and colorful artwork and costumes to remind our community of the story of our nation—its struggles, triumphs, and enduring hope.
Spanning over 400 years of American history, Heritage traces our shared journey from the bold prayer spoken on the shores of Jamestown in 1607 to the vibrant, multifaceted nation we know today. Rather than recounting history as a list of dates and events, the ballet invites audiences to feel it—experiencing the story of America through the accessible, universal language of art. Heritage seeks to reignite curiosity and gratitude for the story of our nation—reminding audiences that each of us is a living continuation of the prayers, dreams, and sacrifices of those who came before.
Communities who experience this powerful production will leave inspired to honor the past and continue writing America’s remarkable story.

This is a wonderfully encouraging event for both veteran homeschoolers and those considering homeschooling as members of the next generation prepare for the next stage of their lives.
The ceremony is student led with a class feel yet also personalized as parents pronounce a special blessing over their graduate.
One of the highlights of the homeschool experience is watching homeschool students accept their high school diploma after so many years of work, patience, and growth in both character and education.
