Kansas City Area Filled With July 4 Celebrations

The Fourth of July is on Friday this year, which means that families with young children (or aging adults) can stay up later than usual. Once again, celebrations and fireworks exhibitions are scheduled within a short drive of nearly everyone on both sides of the state line. Find a list of Kansas City area events below.
MISSOURI
- Blue Springs. Red, White, and Blue Springs on July 3 at 5 p.m. with fireworks at 9:30 at Blue Springs South High School and Young Park.
- Gladstone. The Independence Day Celebration will be on July 4 from 7 to 10 p.m. with fireworks at dusk at Oak Grove Park.
- Higginsville. Family Fun Fireworks Festivities on July 3, beginning at 6 p.m. with fireworks at dusk at Fairground Park.
- Independence. The Independence Celebration will be on July 5, beginning at 5:30 p.m., with fireworks at 9:30 p.m. at the Independence Visitors Center.
- Kansas City. The Stars and Stripes Picnic on July 4 at the National WWI Museum and Memorial. Grounds open at 3 p.m. and fireworks start at 9:40 p.m.
- Lee’s Summit. The Legacy Blast will be on July 3 at 6 p.m., with fireworks at 9:30 at Legacy Park.
- Liberty. LibertyFest will be on July 3 from 6 to 10:30 p.m. with fireworks at 10, at the Capital Federal Sports Complex of Liberty.
- Parkville On July 4, a pancake breakfast will be from 7:30 to 11 a.m. in downtown Parkville. The Independence Day parade will be at 10 a.m. at 1st and Main Street. A concert will be at 7:30 p.m. at Graham Tyler Memorial Chapel, followed by a skydiving show at 8:45 p.m. at English Landing Park and Main Street. The fireworks show will be at 9:30 p.m. at the end of Main Street.
- Pleasant Hill. City fireworks display approximately 9 PM at Skyline softball field near the Pleasant Hill Middle School and Pleasant Hill Pool. Firecracker 5K Run.
- Raymore. The Festival of the Parks: Spirit of America Celebration will be on June 27 from 7 to 10 p.m. and fireworks at dusk at Recreation Park.
- Smithville. The Smithville Fireworks show will on July 4, beginning at 3 p.m. with fireworks at dusk, around 9, at Smith’s Fork Park.
KANSAS
- Fairway (with the cities of Roeland Park, Westwood, Mission Woods and Westwood Hills)/ The 2025 Fireworks Display is on July 3, around 9:45 p.m. at Bishop Miege High School.
- Kansas City/Wyandotte . Christmas in July on July 19 at Wyandotte County Lake Park at 6 p.m.
- Lansing. The Independence Day Celebration will be on June 28, starting at 3 p.m. with fireworks at 9:30 p.m. at Lansing High School.
- Lawrence/ Summerfest 2025 at the Douglas County Fairgrounds on July 3, beginning at 4 p.m.
- Leavenworth The 4th with Fort Leavenworth will be on July 4, beginning at 6 p.m. with fireworks at dusk at Merritt Lake.
- Leawood. Celebration in the Park on July 4 at 6 p.m. at Leawood City Park. The Leawood Aquatic Center will be open from noon to 6 p.m. Food trucks and activities start at 6 p.m. and fireworks begin around 9:45 p.m.
- Lenexa. The Freedom Run is on July 4, beginning at 7 a.m., starting at Sante Fe Trail and Pflumm Road. The Community Days Parade on July 4 at 10 a.m., beginning at Santa Fe Trail Drive and Park Street. The Great Market Carnival is on July 4 from noon to 3 p.m. at the Lenexa Public Market.
- Olathe. The Olathe Fireworks Show will be on July 4 at 9:45 p.m. at the College Boulevard Activity Center.
- Overland Park. The Star Spangled Spectacular at Corporate Woods is on July 4 from 5 p.m. with fireworks at 10 p.m. Red, White and BluHawk on July 3 at 3 p.m. with fireworks at 9:45 p.m.
- Prairie Village. VillageFest is on July 4 from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Prairie Village Municipal Campus.
- Shawnee. Parked is on June 27 at 5:30 p.m. with fireworks at 9:30 at Stump Park. The Freedom Fling is on July 4 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Thomas A. Soetart Aquatic Center.
- Topeka. Spirit of Kansas Festival – an old-fashioned 4th of July celebration held at Lake Shawnee. The celebration features food, arts and craft vendors, a blues festival, and a water-ski show followed by the magnificent fireworks display.
- Wamego. Boomtown USA. Fireworks Show will include a carnival, parade and live music, along with its 30-minute firework show. Spectators sit in a full 360-degree circle around the performance. “This unique setting makes for a spectacular layering effect that really must be seen to be believed,” the website says.
