Launch Of America250 Celebration in Des Moines July 3

The United States is preparing for one of the biggest celebrations in the nation’s history as the America250 Celebration officially kicks off on July 3 in Des Moines. President Donald Trump will launch the America250 Celebration at 7:30 p.m. at the Iowa State Fairgrounds, with the preprogram beginning at 5 p.m. This event marks the start of a nationwide commemoration leading up to the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence in 2026.

According to the America250 website, “This momentous gathering in the heartland signals the beginning of an extraordinary year ahead — one where America250 will unite our nation through events in every state and territory, culminating in the most monumental celebration our Country has ever known.”

Congress established the U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission in 2016 to plan the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The nonpartisan commission, chaired by former Treasurer of the United States Rosie Rios, is working with America250 to create the largest anniversary observance in the nation’s history. Rios is the U.S. Treasurer.

America250 Celebration is non-partisan

America250 is a nonpartisan initiative designed to engage every American in commemorating the 250th anniversary of the country. Running through July 4, 2026, the America250 Celebration offers an opportunity to reflect on the nation’s past, honor Americans’ contributions, and shape a vision for the future. The program aims to unite communities nationwide, building lasting memories and a renewed commitment to America’s future. Attendees in Des Moines will get a preview of these important initiatives.

“America250 is proud to host this historic kick-off event in Iowa, in keeping with President Trump’s commitment to provide a grand celebration worthy of the momentous occasion of America’s 250th birthday,” said Monica Crowley, spokesperson for America250. “This special event serves as the magnificent start of a dynamic, yearlong commemoration across our beautiful country, unveiling a vision for a renewed commitment to America’s future.”
