List of major retailers closing stores or reducing hours in response to coronavirus

As California and New York issued mandatory “stay at home” orders, more retailers across the nation are closing their doors. The effort is seen as a way to help prevent the spread of coronavirus through contact with products in those stores or with sales associates and other shoppers. In addition, those that are staying open are doing so with reduced hours.

Some stores, like Dollar General and supermarket chains, have specified the first hour of each day as “seniors only”. The time is made available so those at most risk from coronavirus can find the products they need with the least amount of contact with the public.
