Missouri Judicial Retention Votes on Nov. 5 Ballot

Below are the judges who are up for a retention vote according to the Missouri Nonpartisan Court Plan, a link to the bio of the judge up for retention, and the year the judge was “appointed” to that position by the Democrat or Republican Missouri governor. A R or D has been placed after the governor’s name. All the voters in Missouri will decide for the Missouri Supreme Court and the Missouri Courts of Appeal. Only the voters in the noted counties will decide the retention of the judges in the Circuit Courts that are listed.

Liberty Link Missouri makes the recommendation to retain the two Missouri Supreme Court judges who are up for a retention vote – Kelly C. Broniec and Ginger K. Gooch. This is their first retention vote as they were appointed to the Missouri Supreme Court in 2023. Broniec and Gooch were two of the three Missouri Supreme Court Judges who voted to keep Amendment 3 from being on the 2024 General Election ballot. They believed that Amendment 3 failed to state any laws that would be repealed if it passed.
