The annual winter Trout Stocking at Lake Shawnee is set for Noon, February 23, at the main boat ramp.
The ramp is accessible from Beach Drive off of SE 29th St.
7,000 pounds of rainbow trout will be stocked into the lake. Spectators are welcome, authorities say.
Lake Shawnee will be closed to fishing until 6 a.m. March 2 to allow the fish to acclimate. Trout season runs through April 15.
A $14.50 trout tag is required during trout season.
